WHO WON BBC MASTERCHEF: THE PROFESSIONALS? 2023 WINNER REVEALED AFTER TENSE FINAL

MasterChef: The Professionals announced Tom Hamblet as the 2023 winner on Friday night.

During the latest episode, Kasae, 29, Tommy, 27, and Tom, 24, faced the challenge of producing a three-course meal for judges Marcus Wareing, Monica Galetti and Gregg Wallace. And in the end, Tom's cooking proved to be worthy of the winning title with a lobster starter, beef main and an olive oil dessert that were hailed by the judges as 'absolutely banging delicious'.

Tom said: "It’s been such a good experience. I’ve done it. The trophy’s here. I’m holding it. I couldn’t be happier right now." He had called his parents, both chefs who work alongside him at the same hotel, to tell them the good news, and said: "It’s really nice to hear how proud they are. It’s a big moment for me and them."

Tom became an apprentice chef at 17 and is currently sous chef at Camellia, a three AA Rosette restaurant within South Lodge Hotel, Horsham, West Sussex.

On Thursday's episode ahead of the final, the three finalists got the opportunity to cook at 2-starred Michelin restaurant The Alchemist in Copenhagen, Denmark. Prior to the final episode, the trio opened up about their time in the competition so far.

Kasae, who lives in Yate, near Bristol, but is originally from Australia, said: "I think the final cook was the hardest. It’s a long time to be under that much pressure, and we all know what we’re fighting for. With so much on the line, any little mistake can be a deal breaker."

Talking about cooking at The Alchemist, Kasae added: "As soon as I found out that I was cooking at The Alchemist, I was SO excited but also the most nervous I’d been for the whole competition. I was pretty sure we’d have to cook something for Rasmus, and I had no idea what I could cook for such a culinary legend that would be a surprise to him."

Tom, from Horsham, West Sussex, said: "I’d say the hardest challenge was Chef’s Table, not so much the cooking side, more the contents of the dining room, it was filled with Michelin starred chefs ready to give you honest feedback which was a very scary thought!"

Speaking about cooking in Copenhagen, he added: "The Alchemist was an experience like I’ve never had before, Rasmus’ food was next level creativity, with so much detail and meaning behind every impression, I really enjoyed my time there and would love some more experience in his kitchen with his amazing team."

While Tommy, from Bristol and Somerset, said: "The hardest part about finals week was the Chef’s Table, cooking for that many people at that high a standard was a very daunting task!" He added about cooking at The Alchemist: "Going to Copenhagen was an amazing opportunity, The Alchemist was truly mind-blowing, I’ve never felt so out of my depth but it was really inspiring."
